RE: Golf Cart Insurance

Most larger campground in SC require proof of insurance before you can use your golf cart in their campground. You also must have insurance to use your golf cart on the highway here in SC.

RE: Counting license plates

We were in Myrtle Beach SP and it was hard to find the states surrounding SC. We did see a few others too, but definitely not as many as usual.

RE: Nastiest Bath-house EVER!

I just looked it up. It is not a state park. It is a private rural park with good and bad reviews on rv park reviews.

RE: Any Full-timers use a Wii for Exercise

My daughter (an adult) has the Wii Fit and loves it. She says it is great exercise. The Wii Fit is an addition to the Wii machine. We have the Wii and love it. Some games are more exercise than others. We have the Olympics game and it is a work out!

RE: Myrtle Beach State Park

Edisto Beach was great. Just make sure when you go that you get to the beach area and not Live Oaks. That was the only problem we had. We didn't know the difference. oh well, it was still nice. We spent our days on the beach. Still love Huntington Beach the most. Try the Seacow eatery and (I think) the Waterfront Restaurant. They were both pretty good.

RE: Happy 4th and where are you?

We were at Myrtle Beach State Park, but we came home today. We were shocked at the crowds coming in there. When we left this morning, there was over a mile long wait to pay with another 1/4 mile back up in either direction coming into the park. Thank goodness we didn't plan on staying past today. We had a nice quiet drive home and now we can relax in our big house for the weekend.

RE: Anyone cutting their vacation short?

We are staying closer to home. We are exploring our state parks. The lower cost for a site helps even out the cost of gas. We noticed on this trip that many travel trailers, motor homes and fifth wheels are on the side of the road with for sale signs. It is a sad sight to see. Gas won't go down for sure. Luckily we are still paying 3.85 for gas. Not a great price, but definitely better than many.

RE: What do you think...dare I ask???

If there is a problem with power on his post, he should have the courtesy to ask you if he could plug into yours. Yes, it probably won't make any difference if he is plugged in to your post, but we think it is very rude. We always do our best to follow campground rules and etiquette, and dislike it when others don't. I would unplug the cord.

RE: strap down television?

Our bedroom TV is on a shelf. We take it down each trip because the shelf folds down. Our den TV is tied down. It is on a corner cabinet. We bought the tie down kit from Camping World. It has been working for three years without any problems.

RE: Edisto Beach State Park

Yes, by gated, I mean some type of security. Many state parks in SC have a locked gate after dark. You get in and out with a security code. Anyone could go and out as they please here. The entry booth is only manned from 9 - 5. The water is pretty salty. We cooked last night without knowing that. This morning when we checked in, the ranger told us. There is a really nice shower building here. The site is huge we just hate we didn't know we were so far from the beach. The weekend will still be great. It just would have been easier on the beach. Oh well, you live and learn.

Edisto Beach State Park

We are visiting Edisto Beach SP for the first time. We have a three day weekend booked. The drive down was beautiful. The mossy tree lined roads were a site to behold. When we got to the park (about 6:45 pm) we were a little confused by the poor signs. This is the first state park we have visited that does not have a gated entrance. It felt a little creepy. We finally found our site. The site was nice enough, deep and wide. We eagerly got the necessities ready and hopped on our golf cart. We rode to the end of each road and couldn't find the beach! What a shock to realize that the beach was quite a distance away from our campsite! Perhaps we were too naive, but we actually thought we were in the same campground as the beach area! We hopped in our truck to find the campground. Of course we did found it, but we just can't get over the fact that we were a mile down the road. It doesn't seem too bad except that we can't drive our golf cart to the beach. This is a nice area, but it sure would be nice to feel more secure. We definitely have learned our lesson about Edisto Beach SP.

RE: stumped! Iam a newbie

We have Alltel cell phones (Motorola). We are able to get high speed data internet through the Motorola phone tools. Of course, if we don't have good service, the internet doesn't work well. We have camped mainly along the east coast and have not had problems.

RE: Were the CGs crowded this weekend?

We stayed at a small state park fairly close to home. It was maybe 1/3 full. Lots of sites had reservation tickets posted, but no oner showed up. We think the price is gas has affected camping in our area.
